Incredible Adoption Story!

Image
This is really an incredible and heart warming adoption story. First a little back story. Chuckie and Pie have spent the last 4 or so months with me having come from an elderly woman who could no longer care for them. There were 5 birds in the group and I had room so I took Chuckie and Pie. We got them to vet and learned that they were relatively healthy but their wings had been damaged and they would never fly again. I transitioned them to a healthy diet of pellets and chop and saw their health improve quickly. Because of Pie's bald head and general appearance I honestly didn't have a whole lot of faith that they would ever be adopted. i had resigned myself to the thought that Chuckie and Pie were with me for the long haul. Not that it was a bad thing, they sing very nicely and aren't loud, so I was OK with that.      Fast forward a few months till last weekend at Pet Expo. One of the members told me a wonderful tale. It seems that Chuckie and Pies's original owne

News/Updates

It has been a while since I posted any updates on Chuckie and Pie but I do have some news! I think that Chuckie and Pie have a great shot at being adopted this weekend, and by an adopter with a special story. I can't share it right now but when I learn more I'll post it here! Keeping our fingers crossed for them!!

Chuckie

Chuckie is quite friendly outside the cage. He will step up off of surfaces although reluctantly... He hung out on Jen's shoulder for a while with Starburst on the other.

Friends

Chuckie and Pie are becoming more and more comfortable around us and we have started trying to get them to be hand friendly. I was pleasantly surprised that Chuckie was whistling for me when I came home the last couple days. He whistles until I come over and talk to them, which they havent done before. I think they are starting to see us as part of their flock and not just big scary things!!

Singing

Chuckie is quite the singer! He usually sings some very nice songs in the morning right before feeding time. Pie never makes much noise but Chuckie will sing and whistle so nicely!

Diet Success!

Well Chuckie and Pie are completely off seed at this point and eating a healthy diet of pellets and chop. They really seem to enjoy it more than the seed. Chuckie is waiting for the food bowl every morning and Pie isn't far behind. I have even finally succeded in getting my parakeets off seed as well! Chuckie and Pie are looking better all the time. They were whistling quietly this morning and it was very nice.
